Learn how to create and manage events in EventNerds

What is an event?

An event is anything you want to organize, such as a conference, workshop, webinar, or meetup. Each event has its own page where you can manage tickets, speakers, sessions, and attendees.

Creating an event

To create a new event, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Events" in the main menu
  2. Click the "Create Event" button
  3. Fill in the event details
  4. Click "Create Event"

Event details you need to provide

  • Event name: Give your event a clear name (for example, "Annual Tech Summit 2025")
  • Start date: When does your event begin?
  • End date: When does your event end?
  • Location: Where is your event happening? You can enter a venue name, address, or "Online" for virtual events
  • Description: Write details about your event. Tell people what to expect, who should attend, and what they will learn
  • Max attendees (optional): Set a limit on how many people can register

Tip: Write a detailed description. This helps people understand if your event is right for them.

Viewing your events

You can see all your events on the Events page. Events are shown in a list with the most recent ones first.

For each event, you can see:

  • Event name and dates
  • Number of attendees registered
  • Event status (upcoming, ongoing, or past)
  • Quick action buttons

Editing an event

You can change event details at any time. Here is how:

  1. Go to the Events page
  2. Click on the event you want to edit
  3. Click the "Edit Event" button
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click "Save Changes"

Note: If people have already registered for your event, be careful when changing dates or locations. You should email your attendees to let them know about important changes.

Understanding the event page

When you click on an event, you will see the event detail page. This page has several tabs:

Overview tab

Shows a summary of your event, including stats like total attendees, ticket sales, and revenue.

Registration tab

Manage tickets and registration questions. This is where you set up how people sign up for your event.

Attendees tab

See everyone who registered for your event. You can search, filter, and export attendee data.

Speakers tab

Manage your event speakers, send portal invites, and review speaker submissions.

Sessions tab

Build your event schedule by adding sessions and organizing them into tracks.

Sponsors tab

Add event sponsors and manage sponsor tiers.

Check-in tab

Tools for day-of-event, including QR code check-in, live dashboards, and badge printing.

Duplicating an event

If you run similar events regularly, you can duplicate an existing event instead of starting from scratch:

  1. Go to the Events page
  2. Find the event you want to copy
  3. Click the three dots menu
  4. Select "Duplicate Event"
  5. Update the dates and other details
  6. Click "Create Event"

When you duplicate an event, EventNerds copies the ticket types, registration questions, and event structure. It does not copy attendees or registrations.

Archiving an event

After your event is over, you can archive it to keep your events list organized:

  1. Go to the event detail page
  2. Click the "Edit Event" button
  3. Scroll to the bottom
  4. Click "Archive Event"
  5. Confirm that you want to archive the event

Tip: Archived events are hidden from your main events list, but you can still access all the data. You can unarchive an event at any time.

Event privacy settings

You can control who can see and register for your event:

  • Public: Anyone can find and register for your event
  • Unlisted: Only people with the direct link can register
  • Private: Only people you invite can see and register for the event

To change privacy settings, go to Edit Event and look for the "Privacy" section.

What to do after creating an event

After you create an event, here are the next steps:

  1. Add ticket types so people can register
  2. Set up registration questions to collect attendee information
  3. Add speakers or open a call for proposals
  4. Create sessions and build your schedule
  5. Add sponsors if you have them
  6. Set up integrations to connect with your other tools
